The West Justice Center serves the cities of Cypress, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Stanton and Westminster. It handles criminal cases (both misdemeanors and felonies) as well as traffic violations and other minor offenses. The usual hours of operation for the center are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On the first Tuesday of each month, there is a special traffic court night session that begins at 4:00 p.m. The center is located at 8141 13th Street in Westminster.
The West Justice Center is one of 7 such courts which comprise the Superior Court of California of the County of Orange. The documents used to charge individuals in these courts include Complaints, Citations, Informations and Grand Jury Indictments. Many departments also resolve matters concerning Search Warrants, Fugitive Warrants, Identification Hearings from another state, Extradition Hearings, Governor's Warrants and Probable Cause Arrest Warrants.
The Superior Court of Orange County was founded in 1889 and J.W. Towner was the first Orange County Superior Court Judge. In 1952, five Municipal Court Judicial Districts were established by the Board of Supervisors. These Municipal Courts administered justice within Orange County until 1998 when they were joined with Superior Courts to form the Superior Court of Orange County. Today, court and other judicial services are provided to more than 3 million residents throughout the county. The Superior Court is now the 3rd largest in the state and the 5th biggest in the U.S. It is comprised of 33 commissioners, 110 judges and roughly 1,800 staff.
The stated mission of the Orange County Superior Court is to, "Serve the public by administering justice and resolving disputes under the law, thereby protecting the rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitutions of California and of the United States." To accomplish this purpose, hundreds of attorneys, staff, judicial officers, executive management and others created a strategic plan for the court. This plan, which was approved in April of 2008, is utilized to set out a clear purpose and sense of direction for the court for the future.
The Law Office of Frances Prizzia is a criminal defense firm. It was established and operates to safeguard the rights of area residents accused of misdemeanors, felonies as well as criminal traffic offenses. If you or a member of your family has been arrested for a theft, violent, sex, white collar, juvenile, drug or other crime, attorney Prizzia is ready to provide the knowledgeable legal counsel she has become known for. In most instances, your case will be taken up at the West Justice Center.
On behalf of her clients, attorney Prizzia has obtained a dismissal of charges or acquittals in a great number of cases.
Although no result can be guaranteed, the record of a criminal defense lawyer is a good indicator of his or her abilities. Attorney Prizzia's recent jury trial victories include not guilty verdicts against charges such as vandalism, DUI, assault, battery, forgery and DUI with injuries. She has produced a dismissal of charges at trial for those accused of theft, assault, weapons violations, battery, disturbing the peace, public intoxication, spousal abuse and violation of a restraining order. As well, she has gotten charges dismissed before trial in cases involving shoplifting, domestic violence, possession of marijuana, grand theft and many other criminal allegations.
Attorney Prizzia understands how devastating being accused of being involved in criminal activity can be. For certain offenses, such as child pornography, sex with a minor or indecent exposure, the accusations alone can forever damage an individual's life, both professionally and personally. Being charged with a crime like murder, embezzlement, extortion, drug sales or distribution can destroy your career and result in the loss of freedom or worse.
When she takes on a case, it is done with the commitment to put your interests above all else. She also provides her legal talents with the goal of aggressively pursuing the best outcome possible through all the various legal phases of your criminal case. In some instances, particularly when she is retained immediately after an arrest or before charges have been filed, she can take action that could result in dropped charges.
In some cases, she can accomplish this due to a lack of credible evidence or it may be that her investigation reveals that police failed to uphold your rights during the process of investigation, the arrest or other part of the justice process. For some, the most favorable resolution could be negotiating a plea bargain to reduce your charges down to a lesser offense. In other cases it is necessary to take the case to trial for resolution. She has proven her high level of commitment to her clients, and is a true believer in protecting the rights of the criminally accused.
